Position Summary
The Senior Vice President, Operations (SVP) provides leadership that drives engagement, growth, operational and financial success for the Emergency Medicine specialty. This role is responsible for creating strategy and clarity to drive specialty performance and accountability. In this role, you will think strategically about adding value to your partners while supporting the growth of the specialty and organization. In partnership with the Divisional CMO’s, the SVP is expected to model impeccable client service and build successful trust-based relationships with C-Level hospital executives. The SVP owns the financial and operational performance of the Emergency Medicine Specialty and its portfolio of practices. This role will also manage a team comprised of Director(s) and Practice Managers leading day-to-day operations of Sounds Emergency Medicine practices.
This is a remote, work-from-home opportunity. This role will require frequent travel (25 or more trips/year).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and Operations
- Building and developing a high-performance team of operating leaders. Ensure appropriate training, role clarity, succession planning, and leadership development
- Securing an appropriate infrastructure and resources to empower team and effectively operate the specialty.
- Contributing in a meaningful way to national and organizational level initiatives.
- Promoting a relentless pursuit of operational excellence through clarity, planning, execution and accountability.
- Leading team to continuously improve the financial and operational performance of healthcare delivery for our partners while improving the quality of patient care
- Aligning with clients strategic objectives and ensuring that Sound is engaged in the partner’s strategic planning process
- Facilitating cross pollination of ideas, process and strategies with other specialty leaders within Sound
- Partnering with Divisional CMO to support organization’s clinical performance management objectives
- Effectively managing relationships/processes with central services departments to maximize stakeholder, client, and colleague value
Client Retention
- Negotiate or oversee the negotiation of favorable contracts utilizing optimal pricing models and operating strategy.
- Thinks in systems and works collaboratively with Emergency Medicine clinical partners on client reporting focused on transparency and acknowledged value and in developing strategic operational and clinical initiatives.
- Owns key c-suite system and hospital relationships and manages clients through impeccable service. Understands and persuades the client of the value that their Emergency Medicine program is delivering and creates excitement and passion for those results.
Hit Plan
- Accountable for delivering budgeted financial results and leading the regional teams to develop accurate projections and forecasts.
- Facilitates forward thinking focus and action planning around key contribution margin drivers.
- Prepares monthly and quarterly executive reporting outlining performance and initiatives of Emergency Medicine service line
Expansion and Growth
- Owning service line growth, working with Business Development team in pursuit of new business.
- Completes due diligence and site design for new hospital sites. Create or review proposals for new business and expansion of current business, including financial plans. Understand the financial and operational impacts of program changes as well as pricing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of healthcare payment models, physician practice management, revenue cycle, payer contracting, and managed care models
- Knowledge and understanding of the financial and operational impacts within geographic and macro market changes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of MS Project
- Experience building and managing a team of regional operating executives will be important.
- Experience working in a cross functional, matrixed environment
- Demonstrated record of using a strategic and consultative approach to adding value, engaging and building solutions with partners
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is required.
- 10 or more years working in healthcare operational management, experience in working with healthcare operational management, including financial statements and working knowledge of hospital and healthcare informatics, including quality measures
- 5+ years’ experience in client-facing roles with hospitals/health systems
- 5+ years' experience managing a physician group practice
- Experience in Emergency Medicine is preferred
Salary Range
This position offers an annual salary range of $215,000-265,000. Exact salary will depend on the candidate’s experience, education and geographic location. This position is eligible for our management bonus opportunity
