About the Role
We are looking for a Credentialing Consultant to collaborate with the Practice Managers, Staffing Account Managers, and other internal Sound Physicians stakeholders to support our clinician credentialing workflows. This position reports to the Manager of Clinician Credentialing, Emergency Medicine and Hospital Medicine while supporting the practice teams in their portfolio. In this role you have three primary areas of focus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinician Credentialing Expertise:
- Understands national, state, and market dynamics in the clinician credentialing domain; maintains current knowledge and documentation of specific processes and nuances in the portfolio they support.
- Works interactively with colleagues within their portfolio and the Clinician Services department to provide guidance and answer questions related to clinician credentialing.
- Brings ideas and innovation to the Credentialing team to improve and develop modern processes and workflows, and ensures Sound provides a best-in-class clinician experience that offers efficient, high-quality, and seamless clinician credentialing.
Technical Expertise, Reporting, and Analytics:
- Expertise in clinician credentialing platform
- Provides Tier 1 technical troubleshooting for Sound Practice Managers as related to clinician credentialing platform and features.
- Managing credentialing platform’s role-based access, communication, and training to Practice Managers in their portfolio with access to ensure they are fully equipped to support their medical practice team.
- Monthly credentialing file audits to ensure controls and compliance guidelines are met in the clinician credentialing process.
- Using data, analytics, and reporting proactively to support practice leader stakeholders to drive decision making and/or provide valid, actionable insights based on clinician credentialing files in process.
- Proactively maintains data and monitors processes via reporting.
Service and Relationship Development:
- Supports the practices in their portfolio to ensure inbound clinicians are supported in the clinician credentialing process.
- Responsible for directly supporting clinician credentialing for new programs and when Practice Manager vacancies occur; onboards new Practice Managers to credentialing process.
- Builds and maintains strategic relationships with practice leaders in their portfolio to ensure the clinician credentialing process is current, compliant, and working as designed to help minimize/mitigate any delays in clinicians’ anticipated start date.
- Serves as peer mentor and/or coach to Practice Managers and members of the Sound central Credentialing team, providing one-on-one training, as well as in-person/virtual development training sessions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of complete clinician credentialing process to include risk assessments, and process and procedures for state licensure, primary source verifications, hospital privileging, and payer enrollment.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or related field of study and/or 4 years of experience in related field accepted.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite.
- Analytical skills in validating data as well as quickly performing ad hoc analysis.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field of study; or a minimum of 4+ years of directly related experience in lieu of degree
- 2+ years experience in the health services industry with direct involvement in obtaining medical licenses, hospital privileging, or working in a Medical Staff Office or Verification services. Equivalent experience in related roles will also be considered
Salary Range
- This position offers an annual salary range of $55,000-$70,000, plus eligibility for a bonus program. The starting salary will fall between $55,000-$65,000 based on candidate experience and geographical location.
