Position Summary
The Solutions Architect is responsible for designing, building, and operating the data integration and analytics infrastructure that powers Sound Physicians’ enterprise reporting and decision-making. This individual serves as the primary technical owner of the pipelines, automation, and platform plumbing that move data between Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Azure services, and downstream dashboards consumed by clinical and operational stakeholders. Working alongside the Technology Services Director and in close partnership with data, analytics, and application teams, the Solutions Architect translates business requirements into durable, automated solutions.
This role owns the full delivery lifecycle from architecture and source control through CI/CD deployment, monitoring, and end-user enablement. This individual is accountable for the following platform domains: Snowflake data platform integration, Microsoft Fabric and Power BI infrastructure, Azure integration services (Logic Apps, Azure Data Factory, API Management), Git-based source control and Azure DevOps pipelines, and cloud automation and operational tooling as assigned by the Technology Services Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Solution Design & Architecture
- Design and architect end-to-end data integration solutions spanning Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Azure services, and downstream reporting surfaces.
- Develop and maintain a coherent integration architecture that prioritizes scalability, reusability, observability, and alignment with organizational data governance standards.
- Translate complex business and analytical requirements into technical specifications, data flow diagrams, and implementation plans.
- Define and govern integration patterns, naming conventions, branching strategies, and deployment standards across the data platform.
- Evaluate emerging tools and services including Azure-native PaaS, Snowflake features, and Fabric capabilities making recommendations that balance innovation with operational stability.
- Serve as a principal technical voice for data platform decisions, providing architecture guidance to peers and stakeholders.
Data Integration & Pipeline Engineering
- Build, configure, and maintain data pipelines and orchestration workflows that move and transform data between Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Blob Storage, and other enterprise systems.
- Develop and maintain Azure Logic Apps, Azure Data Factory pipelines, and equivalent automation to support integration between cloud platforms and business applications.
- Implement infrastructure as code and pipeline-as-code practices using Azure DevOps, Git repositories, Bicep, ARM, or equivalent tooling.
- Manage CI/CD pipelines for data platform assets including Snowflake objects, Fabric datasets, Power BI reports, and Azure integration resources ensuring repeatable, auditable deployments.
- Design and implement data models, transformations, and quality checks within Snowflake and Fabric to support reliable downstream reporting.
- Develop reusable automation scripts and utilities in Python or PowerShell to reduce manual operational burden across the data platform.
Reporting & Dashboard Delivery
- Partner with data and analytics teams to deliver Power BI and Fabric dashboards that provide accurate, performant, and accessible insights to clinical and operational users.
- Ensure data flowing from source systems through transformation layers to Power BI is well-governed, documented, and trustworthy.
- Optimize data models and dataset refresh strategies to balance dashboard performance with infrastructure cost.
- Support end users and analytics colleagues by troubleshooting data discrepancies, pipeline failures, and dashboard issues.
- Define and maintain data lineage documentation so consumers understand the origin, transformation logic, and freshness of reported data.
Operations & Support
- Perform daily monitoring of integration pipelines, Snowflake tasks and streams, Fabric data flows, and Azure Logic App runs responding proactively to failures and anomalies.
- Implement alerting, logging, and observability practices to reduce mean time to detection and resolution across the data platform.
- Investigate and resolve issues across the integration stack, coordinating with impacted stakeholders and documenting root cause and resolution.
- Provide Tier 2/3 escalation support for data platform issues to analytics teammates and internal consumers.
- Work closely with IT Security to ensure all integration patterns and data flows adhere to HIPAA requirements and organizational security standards.
- Collaborate with application development teams to facilitate data integration needs across the application development lifecycle.
- Responsibilities may occasionally require working evenings or weekends, sometimes with limited advanced notice.
- Travel: 0–4 trips per year.
- Must be able to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods (with breaks).
Source Control, DevOps & Governance
- Own and maintain Git repositories for all data platform assets including Snowflake scripts, Fabric workloads, Logic Apps, and supporting automation.
- Enforce branching strategies, pull request reviews, and deployment gates across the data platform’s Azure DevOps project.
- Contribute to and maintain architecture documentation, runbooks, pipeline diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Apply platform updates, SDK upgrades, and dependency patches on a regular cadence for both cloud-hosted and on-premises components.
- Perform periodic cost and performance reviews to support capacity planning and cloud spend optimization across Snowflake, Fabric, and Azure integration services.
