Transform patient care and the community as a Part-Time Critical Care Physician in the beautiful Napa Valley!

Our mission in St Helena is to provide “better” in every sense—better healthcare, better teamwork, and a lasting impact on the community we proudly serve. Ready to grow your career in a place that values community and collaboration? Let’s talk.

Local Team Collaboration:

  • We have a part-time position with our Intensivist team at Adventist Health St Helena Hospital Napa Valley, working 3-5 shifts per month (housing provided)
  • Join this 151-bed state-of-the-art community hospital and regional referral center with a full range of cardiovascular services at St Helena Hospital.
  • The strength of the CV program includes interventional vascular stenting, TAVR, and ECMO.
  • There is a 12-bed ICU. Our ICU is unique in that we are a small community hospital in the Napa Valley; however, since we are a referral center, our acuity is high.
  • 75% of admissions are transfers to St Helena from a helicopter or an ambulance. St Helena has at least one open-heart surgery per day, often two, based on Monday to Friday surgeries.
  • Phenomenal leadership and team culture. Our ICU Medical Director also serves as the Chief Medical Officer of the hospital.

Qualifications:

  • Board-certified or board-eligible critical care physicians (MD or DO).
  • A commitment to excellence in clinical service, with strong problem-solving abilities essential for the ICU setting.
  • An active California medical license is preferred.
  • Experience managing complex cardiac patients is preferred.

Scheduling:

  • Block schedule.
  • There is one intensivist in-house during the day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. That same intensivist takes night call from home from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. Housing is provided on the hospital campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Your focus will be providing care to patients in the 12-bed ICU (medical/surgical with heavy cardiac populations)
  • Ability to perform all technical skills in the critical care setting.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Living and Working in St Helena:

  • Located within easy reach of the Pacific Coast, the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and San Francisco, Napa Valley is an engaging community that celebrates the finest in wine country hospitality, culinary adventures, arts, health, and wellness – all at your fingertips. Lazy days are spent walking the vineyards or biking the hills. A game of bocce or an al fresco meal can be an everyday occasion at numerous Michelin-starred restaurants. If Napa isn’t your speed, live in San Francisco or Sacramento and commute to St Helena, as housing is provided!
  • Our guiding principle is patient-first care, which means we focus on the people of St Helena and Napa Valley. You’ll be part of a team that’s making a real difference in the health of our neighbors.

Rewards and Compensation:

  • Competitive hourly compensation: $3,850 per shift (role is 3-5 shifts per month).
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • Housing provided.
