As a Medical Director of Advisory Services, you will work elbow-to-elbow with physicians, staff, hospital leadership, and utilization management personnel to provide direct education and support in key areas including patient status, clinical documentation, compliance, and utilization management (UM).

Our physician advisors are trained in best practice clinical documentation and workflows, concurrent, secondary reviews, and performance improvement. This role provides the opportunity to use your clinical expertise away from the bedside. A rewarding part of being a physician advisor is providing continuous improvement feedback through physician-to-physician education.

  • Act as a bridge between medical staff and case management, interpreting the most complicated UM issues and serve as an expert resource for other clinicians
  • Ensure clinicians receive proper credit for the work they do through improved documentation
  • Impact hospital health and support fellow physicians

With the Sound Advisory Services clinical management team’s support, you will expand your knowledge, drive value, and steward the well-being and financial stability of the hospital. A medical director of advisory services is a highly visible leadership opportunity for a motivated and engaged physician with a minimum of 3 years of inpatient medicine and advisory experience required. Board certification (base specialty) recognized by ABMS or ABQAURP – Hospitalist, emergency medicine, or intensivist experience preferred.

Beckley Hospital, part of ARH, is a 173-bed community hospital and offers comprehensive health services including cancer care, cardiovascular care, a long-term acute care hospital, behavioral health, women’s health, advanced stroke, and neurology care to patients in the community. Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) is the healthcare system of Appalachia and is ranked one of the Top 10 Employers in Kentucky by Forbes Magazine. They are a not-for-profit health system operating fourteen hospitals, including Beckley, in West Virginia.

Beckley is southern West Virginia’s largest population and major shopping and entertainment area for the thousands of Mountain States residents. Beckley is a great place to live with low crime, safe communities, and schools. The area has experienced new business growth and growth within the communities with new residents settling in the area. The city has plenty to offer including, the Black Knight, Golf, and Park open to the public has stunning views, natural beauty, and a one-of-a-kind golfing experience.

There is plenty to see and do with multiple parks and recreation for the whole family, art theatre, and outdoor festivals, with downtown rich in history. The area has lofty forests and farmland and beautiful woodland parks for golf, camping, fishing, hunting, and shopping.
