Local Team Collaboration:

  • DCH is a 583-bed tertiary care center. We have excellent rapport with subspecialists as well as the ICU nursing, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and palliative care teams. We have dedicated critical care pharmacists in both ICUs.
  • We have two medical ICUs, each have 16 beds (closed ICU). The patients we see are bread-and-butter medical ICU patients.
  • Multidisciplinary rounds occur in Medical ICU 1 at 9 am and in Medical ICU 2 at 10:30 am.
  • 3rd and 4th-year medical students rotate with us in the ICU.

Qualifications:

  • Board-certified or board-eligible critical care physicians (MD or DO).
  • Ability to obtain an Alabama license.
  • A commitment to excellence in clinical service, with strong problem-solving abilities essential for the ICU setting.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate proficiency in all technical skills required in critical care.

Practice in the Heart of the Community

Scheduling:

  • Full-time physicians work an average of 15 monthly shifts
  • Block schedule. We collaborate to manage the schedule as equitably as possible, ensuring intensivists achieve an outstanding work/family life balance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive care for critically ill patients in the ICU, working within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest level of patient care.
