Hospitalist – Soldotna, AK

To our prospective teammates,

I am the Regional Medical Director with Sound Physicians and The Alaska Hospitalist Group, and I’m proud of the hospital medicine practice we have built at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna, Alaska.

I have been a part of The Alaska Hospitalist Group for the past ten years, and I warmly welcome physicians seeking new opportunities or embarking on a career change. Allow me to provide you with insights into our organization, focusing on our dedicated people, our clinical practice, and our unwavering purpose as you contemplate your next steps:

People

  • Join our established, close-knit team of physicians in our current seven FTE program as we expand to eight FTEs.
  • Our physicians in the group work and communicate well with each other.
  • We value diversity and learning from one another to approach patient care with fresh perspectives.
  • Your voice matters here; teamwork is at the heart of what we do. We value the opinions and contributions of our team members when making changes. Our team works autonomously to make decisions efficiently.
  • Strong work ethic, honesty, and patient safety always come first.
  • We have an active local medical community with opportunities in local leadership. We enjoy a warm and supportive relationship with the hospital administration.
  • We proudly offer J1-visa sponsorship through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Conrad 30.

Practice

  • At Central Peninsula Hospital, we practice the full breadth of adult medicine, including general medical wards, surgical consults, and an open small ICU. We have E-ICU coverage at night.
  • The Alaska Hospitalist Group provides medical consultation for various surgical services.
  • Swing shift rotation covers admissions and new consults during the day.
  • Flexible block scheduling, working week blocks.
  • Night shifts can be filled individually or in blocks, depending on physician preference.
  • In addition to Central Peninsula Hospital, the staffing model with The Alaska Hospitalist Group also includes hospitalist services at Providence Alaska Medical Center, St. Elias Specialty Hospital, and Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
  • Most of us at the Alaska Hospitalist Group are passionate about Alaska’s beauty and adventure, including photography, fishing, mountain biking, skiing, boating, and aviation. We spend time with our families and in the outdoors during our time off, while the flexible schedule permits coverage for one another when we are out.

Purpose

  • Our top priority is always the well-being of our patients.
  • A focus on growth and development is a key feature of our group, where teammates can expand their careers here locally and within the broader medical group.
  • We are a community-minded team and encourage our team members who want to contribute in and out of the hospital to help make our local community thrive.
