Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner – Lavonia, GA

To prospective teammates,

I am the medical director for Sound’s emergency medicine (EM) practice at St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital in Lavonia, Georgia. I have proudly been a part of Sound for over five years and have provided services at St. Mary’s for nine years. I would like to extend a warm welcome to nurse practitioners and physician assistants seeking a career change. I’d like to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider your next steps:

  • We are a well-established, stable team of four full-time physicians and two full-time advanced practice providers (APPs), along with local per diem clinicians.
  • We are a tight-knit, loyal team that collaborates effectively with other providers and nursing staff.
  • I highly appreciate and encourage independence within my team.
  • Our team’s strengths include loyalty, longevity, and being a solid, dependable group.
  • The team actively participates in multiple hospital committees such as stroke, med exec, pharmacy, and therapeutics, with a member serving as vice chief of staff.
  • We welcome the challenge of complex cases and enjoy a wide variety of pathology for a small hospital. Almost every month, I encounter cases I’ve only ever read about before.
  • Advanced practitioners with emergency medicine experience are welcome to apply. We have full-time and per diem options available.
  • Our emergency department is comprised of 14 beds and handles over 19,000 visits annually.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
  • We put patients first. Always.
  • A focus on growth and development is a key feature of Sound, where teammates can expand their careers here locally and within the broader medical group.
  • We’re a community-minded team and encourage our team members who want to contribute in and out of the hospital to help make our local community thrive.

Lavonia, Georgia, offers a charming small-town atmosphere with a close-knit community, low cost of living, and a slower pace of life. Residents often appreciate its proximity to nature, beautiful landscapes, and the ease of accessing outdoor recreational activities, making it an appealing place for those seeking a peaceful, relaxed lifestyle.
