To prospective teammates,

I’m the medical director for Sound’s emergency medicine practice at Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, Washington. I have been a part of Sound for just under a year and welcome interest from physicians new in their career and advanced practice providers (APPs) desiring a career change. I’d like to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider your next steps:

People
  • Our fantastic team consists of avid hikers and food enthusiasts who enjoy spending time together during their days off.
  • We believe in inclusivity and actively involve our team in decisions that impact the program. Embracing everyone’s input helps our leadership identify potential gaps and areas for improvement. We value team members who are eager to contribute their ideas and have a voice in shaping our program.
  • Our teamwork culture is strong, with everyone regularly checking in and communicating needs to ensure we’re all on the same page for the day. The OMC staff excels in communication and is always ready to assist with various tasks throughout the day. If ever in doubt, feel free to ask them!
Practice
  • Our emergency department (ED) serves as a pioneering force for instituting hospital-wide policy changes. This is attributed to the collaborative environment, ensuring everyone feels heard during transitions and fostering optimal feedback opportunities.
  • We actively collaborate with nurse leadership to collectively “own” the ED, consistently striving to improve patient care and ensuring that we are attentive to those who require our services.
  • Required skillsets encompass expertise in emergency medicine, and candidates should be board-certified or recent graduates from accredited emergency medicine residency programs.
  • We actively contribute to various committees, including the pediatric committee, vulnerable patients committee, and violent restraint workgroup, as well as the ED committee, with ongoing efforts to join additional committees.
  • Yearly compensation range: $403,000 – $432,000
Purpose
  • We put patients first. Always.
  • We value and support growth and development in our hospital medicine practice, allowing you to explore new opportunities locally and within the broader medical group.
  • We’re a community-minded team and support involvement and contributions to community health and wellness in and out of the hospital.
  • Committees we are a part of: Pediatric Committee, Vulnerable Patients Committee, Violent Restraint Workgroup, ED Committee & we are in the process of joining more!
