Full-Time Critical Care Opportunity in the Heart of Austin, TX!

Centrally located at 32nd Street & IH-35, St. David’s Medical Center is a comprehensive stroke center with exceptional ancillary support including a certified chest pain center, 24-hour emergency department, and leading-edge care in women’s services, neurosciences, cardiovascular services, orthopedics, and rehabilitation.

  • 24-bed medical/surgical ICU with 16 bed Neurocritical Care Unit
  • We see a variety of ICU populations including medical, surgical, neuro, and cardiac
  • 1 APP from 7p-7a. Intensivists backup night call from home
  • APP will conduct evening rounds, work with Hospitalist on admitting patients to ICU, and perform procedures (central lines, arterial lines, and intubations)
  • ECMO service starting
  • Average 3 admissions per night shift plus procedures
  • Collegial medical staff and excellent neurosurgery support
  • Block schedule

Requirements of Nurse Practitioners

As a Critical Care NP you can expect to:

  • Independently assess, examine, and provide care to critically ill patients in the ICU including procedures such as central lines, intubations, arterial lines, and chest tubes
  • Manage medical, surgical, and cardiac patients
  • Actively present and participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds in the ICU
  • Work autonomously and multitask within the critical care team
  • Commit to excellence in clinical service and demonstrate problem-solving abilities necessary to best serve our patients
  • Current, unrestricted license in Texas
