Hospitalist or Nocturnist Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – St Augustine, FL

To prospective teammates,

I’m the medical director for UF St. John’s Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, Florida. I have been a part of Sound Physicians for two years. I’m proud of the practice we have built and welcome interest from physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) coming out of training or desiring a career change. I’d like to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider options:

People
  • We are a closely knit, established team of 12 physicians and 12 APPs, with the support of one clinical performance nurse.
  • We have a robust and seasoned team of doctors and advanced practitioners, many of whom have been with the group for five to ten years, and we are very stable.
  • Due to our fantastic weather, most of our providers spend time outdoors with their families, engaging in sports activities, fishing, boating, biking, and just enjoying the beach.
  • The public school system in St. Augustine is excellent, and there are many private and parochial options.
Practice
  • We recently partnered with the University of Florida, which has an excellent healthcare reputation for innovation and academics. The culture is also conducive to research and teaching, and we welcome interested candidates.
  • Engage in fulfilling roles with 10-hour shifts (8 am – 6 pm, noon – 10 pm, or 10 pm – 8 am), taking on the responsibility for all admissions within the team.
  • We recently converted to EPIC EMR, which has helped streamline our patient care.
  • We have a 24/7 intensivist program but manage step-down ICU patients. We are not expected to run codes or rapid; we don’t do procedures, and the hospital has full specialty backup.
  • We have daily interdisciplinary meetings to help with patient thruput, and our case managers are accommodating.
  • Most of us like to spend time with our families or outdoors, so a flexible schedule is available, and we cover for each other when we’re out.
  • Teammates benefit from Sound’s total rewards program, including competitive compensation from $240,000 – $270,000, along with financial, health, & well-being benefits.
Purpose
  • We put patients first. Always.
  • A focus on growth and development is a key feature of Sound’s practices, where teammates can expand their careers here locally and within the broader medical group.
  • We are community-minded and urge team members who want to contribute in and out of the hospital to make our local community thrive.
